The Festival of Champions is coming up this week and FIX IT has been busy getting ready!
The beginning of July was spent filming and editing together a movie about our team and our history! FIRST is displaying the video at the Festival so we tried our best to make it awesome. Despite being only 3 minutes long, it took a lot of patience and work. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when it was finally finished.
We also visited each of our local sponsors to give them a special thanks for their contributions to our team. Without their help, this season would have been a lot trickier.
We can’t wait to meet the St. Louis champions and find out their stories! From what we know, Combustible Lemons (the St. Louis Inspire Award winners) have done some amazing FIRST outreach. As far as we’ve heard, the Festival of Champions will be an amazing event to attend. This Thursday evening will be the welcome reception. Our team gets to have dinner and talk to the VIPs that FIRST has invited (and we’re sure that FIRST has invited some Very Important People…) The next day, we’re touring Dean Kamen’s company, DEKA, which should be super interesting! Then, of course, Saturday is the main event! It’ll be the ultimate FTC Champion tournament between Houston and St. Louis. Of course, our team doesn’t have a strong bias as to who should win; we want both teams to play a match worthy of the event FIRST has put together. THREE CHEERS FOR HOUSTON!
For those who don’t know, the Saturday event is open to the public and, if you’re part of FIRST and in New Hampshire, mandatory to attend (just kidding). For the teams that aren’t in the area, we encourage you to come but we definitely understand the stress that comes with travel costs.
