Our 5-day LEGO Mindstorms summer camp for 9-14 year-olds has ended. We had 9 kids in all.
Each day we designed a challenge for the kids to design, build and program a LEGO robot based on a Mayan theme.
On the first day, there was a temple that the robots had to navigate.
On the second, there was a string and they all built a robot that hung from the string and went to drop marbles into a vase at a predetermined location.
On Day 3, there were two ramps, each with their own challenges. On the pedestal, at the top of the ramp, there was a key release for the robot to catch a key.
On Day 4, the key was used to determine which path the robot had to take to find and retrieve a scroll. The last day had teams pushing a statue onto a pressure plate and driving up a ramp.
Throughout the whole week, there were lots of great designs. In the end team Spicy Jelly Beans had the most cumulative points over the whole week, but teams Spider Monkey, Epic and Deathstar were all close behind.
We all had a lot of fun with robots and learned lots of new things.
